If ever there was a time for shopping in Bangkok it is now. With the excellent exchange rates, and amazing discounts, you can find everything that you are looking for at exceptional prices. The variety of goods on sale is simply amazing. You can find everything from traditional Thai handicraft, silks, gold, items, tailor-made clothes, electrical goods, designer goods to super cheap fake goods. You’ll definitely need some fake Louis Vuitton luggage to take everything home!

Below is a selection of the best places to shop in Bangkok. Again the variety of retailers in Bangkok is incredible. One minute you can be strolling through an air conditioned world class shopping mall, the next squeezing down an alley way with market stalls and hawkers on either side. Also included are directions from the nearest Skytrain station. This is a train service that runs above street level in Bangkok and is by far the easiest way to get around in the city.


Siam Paragon
Recently opened this is an enormous mega luxury shopping mall. The largest 
shopping mall in Asia, this is an absolute must for travelers to Bangkok in 
search of high quality merchandise. It contains many high end designer outlets, a large department store, a whole floor dedicated to Restaurants and food courts and even Thailand's largest Aquarium Siam Ocean World in the basement. As with most other Malls and Department Stores do remember to take your passport so you can enjoy the 5% Tourist Discount, and also make sure you claim VAT.

Chatuchak Market
This is a huge outdoor market selling practically everything you can think of, from handicrafts to livestock. There are over 8000 vendors and up to 200,000 people visit a day. It is only open on Saturdays and Sundays and it will take you at least the whole weekend to see it all.

Pantip Plaza
For electrical goods and computer software this is the place to go. It is an indoor market on several floors with electrical appliance retailers and brand outlets mixing with pirate software and DVD sellers. Electrical appliances and computers can be bought here for discounted prices and pretty much any software or games can be bought for very cheap. Pirate DVD’s of all the latest movies and TV series can be found, some before they are even released at the cinema although quality does vary, and original’s are cheaper here than elsewhere.

The Emporium
The Emporium is a very exclusive feeling shopping mall specializing in luxury goods. It has all the designer outlets including Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Chanel and many other high-end brands. There are also cinemas located on the top floor together with a large, busy food court which has a pleasant view of the park beside the shopping complex. that shows you the small park beside the shopping mall.

Patpong Night Market
Right in the middle of the Patpong area famous for its nightlife and go-go bars, this market sells a wide variety of fake designer jeans, handbags, trainers, watches and other goods. While prices are higher than in Chatuchak it is all very conveniently packed together into a small area and of course you should always haggle the price down. The area is not nearly as sleazy as its reputation might suggest and the market really has a great atmosphere.

Damnern Saduak Floating Market
Damnern Saduak Floating Market, 80 km 
southwest of Bangkok in Ratchaburi province, is 
one of the largest and most popular floating 
markets among tourists. An exhilarating narrow 
long tailed speed boat ride through the small canals passing Thai houses and their stalls selling vegetable's, flower's, fruit's, sweets and meats. The Floating Market is a uniquely Thai experience and great fun.




MBK Centre
Here you will find literally hundreds of smaller shops and stalls, selling many goods at bargain prices. You will find many things here from clothes to electronics and all contained within a multistory shopping complex. MBK basically has everything you could ever need, from unique items you never new you wanted to Mobile Telephones (be sure to ask whether the phone is 'second hand' or not) to excellent fake Louis Vuitton bags, to originally made local shoes.
